Nate Diaz previously said that he doesn't like fighting on the same card as his teammates, but that is exactly what happened at UFC 202, and it was Team McGregor who got one over Team Diaz in the early bout, as Artem Lobov defeated Chris Avila.

Courtney Casey defeats Randa Markos

Opening the preliminary rounds, Courtney Casey got her second straight win in the UFC in a 38 day stretch with a straight armbar finish against Randa Markos.

The win was Casey’s second stoppage in the first round, which is likely to see her climb into the rankings after beating 14th ranked Canadian, Markos.

In her post-match octagon interview, Casey told Joe Rogan that she expected Markos to get her in the headlock, which is something that they had trained for, which showed in the magnificent transition she pulled off to get the submission.

"I trained my jiu jitsu,” said Casey. “We had that in my head every single day that’s what she was going to do. Win or lose, as long as I put on a show, I’m happy.”

Casey's record now stands at 6-3 & Markos' record is 6-5.

Artem Lobov defeats Chris Avila

Chris Avila made his UFC debut against Artem Lobov, and it was Team Diaz - Team McGregor yet again, as the duo train with the fighters involved in the main event, whilst the two had already come to blows before the fight even got underway.

Lobov came out the attacker in his 27th fight as a professional, with a flurry of kicks to the body, whilst Avila went for the clinch early on.

The Russian – fighting out of Dublin, Ireland – continued dominating with a number of kicks to the leg of Avila after finding his range.

Lobov came out fighting in the second too, continue with the kicks to the left leg Avila.

A late slip from Lobov meant the closing stages of the fight were fought on the ground, but it was Lobov who won via unanimous decision following his devastating leg kicks. 1-0 to Team McGregor on the night.

Raquel Pennington defeats Elizabeth Philips

Elizabeth Philips went in for the pinch early on against Raquel Pennington before pinning her against the wall, landing an elbow to the head. Pennington then dominated towards the end of the first round and with 10 seconds to go, the American unleashed three clean strikes before the hooter.

Pennington then went for the one-arm guillotine, but was unable to complete the submission as the fight went on, whilst the 27-year-old landed a number of knees to the body of Philips as she started to go ahead on points.

Philips went into the final round needing the knockout or a submission to prevent a decision loss, and with another win in UFC to her name, Pennington could be in shout with a shot at the bantamweight title.

Cody Gabrandt defeats Takeya Mizugaki

After Cody Gabrandt defeated Thomas Almeida who was on 20-0, expectations were high for the young fighter. The Team Alpha Male member didn’t disappoint either, it took him less than a minute to knock out Takeya Mizugaki following a flurry of devastating punches.

"I knew I had to go out there and beat him early," said Garbrandt. "He has nothing to lose, he's still a killer in there."
