For the second time in a week, Karlsruher SC and 1860 Munich met. This time, though, neither side could find the net in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

The first half saw temperatures soar to 39 degrees Celsius, which seemed to slow the play and both failed to create a meaningful chance.

After the restart, Karlsruhe came into the game more but it was the Lions who created the better chances. However, they couldn't get past Dirk Orlishausen.

Drab first half

It wasn't until after the drinks break that either side managed to muster anything in terms of going forward.

Enrico Valentini made a crucial tackle to deny Ivica Olic a shot at goal, though it was a messy game and any potential breaks were cut out with cynical fouls.

Eventually Karlsruhe fashioned something meaningful but Dimitrios Diamantakos cross evaded the outstretched David Kinsombi and Manuel Torres at the end of the half.

Second period perks up somewhat

Karlsruhe began the second half on the front foot and Moritz Stoppelkamp's curling cross just missed the head of Diamantakos.

1860 responded with a chance of their own, as a Daniel Adlung free-kick went narrowly over the bar from all of 25 yards.

The game could have changed when Manuel Torres was sent off for picking up a second yellow card, as his stray elbow caught Fanol Perdedaj square in the face.

Stoppelkamp was the key man for Karlsruhe, and another ball into the box was almost met by the arriving Yann Rolim.

The best and final chance of the game fell for Levent Aycicek, although his back post header was superbly stopped by Orlishausen.

It was a match that neither side deserved to win and a point will please both managers, though Karlsruhe are still yet to win under Tomas Oral's management.
