France manager Didier Deschamps spoke about the taleneted attacking options at his disposal, after France completed their final training session before facing Romania in the Euro 2016 opener on Friday night.

Deschamps is bidding to lead his nation to glory on their own turf, and despite captain Hugo Lloris saying they aren't, many have touted Les Blues as favourites to land the trophy in early July.

To do so, they'll want to get off to a winning start against Romania, the first game of the tournament, with France's other opponents being Albania and Swizterland in a fairly comfortable looking Group A.

'Foot on the accelerator' required

Deschamps, speaking in the pre-match press conference, expressed that his side are determined to play with a "foot on the accelerator" in the opener.

Asked about what qualities his team bring to the table, the manager said that he has a "competitive side with exciting attacking potential", possibly referring to the defensive injuries that have cast doubts over France's hopes at the tournament.

"Clearly you need to strike the right balance and defend well", said Deschamps, who revealed that they've practised an "effective defensive block" in training.

Geared up for opener

That final training session came on Thursday, with each France player unscathed. That means that France are likely to start with a front three of Dimitri Payet, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud against Romania, with Paul Pogba offering further attacking support from midfield.

On his team's style, Deschamps said that he prefers a more direct style of play, that he'd "rather play balls that cut-through, forward passes"

It was refreshing to see him admit that he "doesn't have a team that can keep the ball and wear down opposition", much like current holders Spain

Whether or not the style will work is what we'll see throughout the tournament, starting tomorrow.
