West Ham United have promised they will pursue bans and arrests for fans, after crowd trouble marred their 2-1 win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup.

Punishment will be brought

It looked set to be a historic night in the London Stadium, with goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Edimilson Fernandes gave them the victory over Antonio Conte's side which set up a last-eight clash with Manchester United, however that was overshadowed by trouble between both sets of fans towards the end of the contest.

This isn't the first time that there has been trouble at the London Stadium, with reported incidents at both the Watford and Middlesbrough matches, however both the club and vice-chairman Karen Brady, have condemned the behaviour, and promised that action will be taken against those individuals responsible.

A club statement read: “A small number of individuals were intent on becoming involved in disorder and are being investigated, identified and banned from London Stadium as a matter of priority."

Brady wrote: "A disappointment to all who have worked so hard to put on such an exciting fixture in the face of a small minority of mindless individuals hell-bent on causing trouble."

Can take anyone

Back on the pitch, it was an excellent performance from Slaven Bilic's men, with the Hammers recording three wins on the spin in all competitions. They will face a tough test to make the semi-finals when they travel to Old Trafford, however goalkeeper Darren Randolph said that the Hammers are a match for any side.

“We never seem to get the easy route in cup competitions, but it’s another trip to Old Trafford, where we went last season and put in some good performances.” he told whufc.com.

Randolph concluded: “We look forward to going there twice [in a week]. Tonight, we showed we’re a match for any team on any given day."

West Ham United will take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, October 30 with kick-off at 1:30pm BST.
