Watford have very much been in business already this window, having completed the signings of striker Isaac Success and defender Christian Kabasele already.

A striker in high demand

News has emerged this week that the Hornets have supposedly upped their interest in out of favour West Brom striker, Saido Berahino. The link between the 22-year-old and Watford began early last month, when the Hornets emerged as one of the clubs in line to express their interest in the striker.

While no official bid has been made, it is rumoured that Stoke City’s £15m offer for the player was snubbed by the Baggies and no further negotiations have gone forward. It appears that West Brom have placed a £20m price tag on the English striker, and will continue to push until their demanded price is met.

Struggling to regain former form

Berahino struggled for form last season, as he only registered four goals in 31 Premier League appearances for his club. The youngster has struggled to find his feet after a feud between him and the club chairman, Jeremy Peace, surfaced on twitter. The striker tweeted that he would ‘never play again’ for the club when run by Peace. The juvenile tweet backfired on the Berahino, who was very much loved by the fans beforehand.

Things haven’t been right for Berahino at West Brom, especially under the guidance of tough talking, Tony Pulis, who rightly benched the youngster as a result of his poor mentality. There is no doubt that Berahino has the talent in his locked to thrive in the Premier League, as he has – on many occasions – showed many what he is fully capable of. Although Stoke City are expected to capture the signature of Berahino, Watford have refused to deny their interest in the striker should the deal fall through.

Despite recruiting Nigerian striker, Isaac Success, last week, and confirming the future of Troy Deeney at the club with a new contract, Odion Ighalo’s future at the club is still unknown, as many clubs around the world have shown their interest in the striker.

The direction of Saido Berahino will be made more clear in the next few weeks, as Watford wait to see their chances of snatching the high potential striker from Premier League rivals, Stoke City.
