Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has signed a new four-year contract with the club until 2020, ending any speculation about his future.

Eriksen finally puts pen to paper on a new four-year contract

Eriksen, who has made 134 appearances for the club since joining from Ajax in August 2013, was said to be stalling on a new contract due to his wage demands but finally the club and the player came to an agreement at a reported £75,000 a week; a huge boost for the club.

The midfielder is a key player for the Lilywhites, scoring eight goals in the Premier League last year as he helped the club finish third and return to the Champions League.

Eriksen optimistic about Spurs future

On signing his new contract at the club, Eriksen told Spurs official website that "there is a great future at this place" with how the team is improving year on year and he said "I wouldn't have signed if I didn't see that" which is very important as everyone at the club wants to better what they have already done.

The midfielder continued to explain "it's a very good group of people" at the club with how the "players connect with each other" and how the "staff connect with the players" which gives everyone a good "idea of where we want to go" and everyone is hungry to try and "achieve it".

Time for the player find his best form once again

Now that Eriksen has signed his new contract, it is important for him to try and het back to his best following a slow start to the new season.

The reason this is so important is that the fixtures are coming thick and fast in September. That begins with a very tricky away trip to face Stoke City in the Premier League, on Saturday, at the Bet365 Stadium with the team looking to continue their unbeaten start.
