Late on Friday evening, Swansea City confirmed the arrival of striker Alberto Paloschi from Chievo Verona, subject to international clearance.

The Italian forward has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Liberty Stadium, with the fee remaining undisclosed. He will wear the number nine shirt.

Reuinted with his former manager

Paloschi and Francesco Guidolin are no strangers when it comes to working with each other, having spent over 50 games together.

The striker helped fire Parma back into the Serie A after scoring 11 goals in 39 appearances during the 2008-09 season.

Things didn't work out so well when in the Italian top-flight, finding the net four times in 17 games, but it is likely that Guidolin was able to lure him in after their prior work.

A steady goalscorer

Despite not scoring goals with remarkable regularity, Paloschi has always managed to chip in with his fair share.

61 goals and 17 assists in 220 matches doesn't cry out guaranteed goalscorer but he will be desperate to make it in the Premier League.

This will be his first venture outside of Italy, and a good goalscoring run between now and the European Championship could make him an unlikely candidate for the Italy squad.

Paloschi explains why he picked Swansea

“I’m very happy to be here,” said Paloschi. “I worked with Francesco for two seasons at Parma and we got promoted."

Talking to the club website, he credited Guidolin for making a "big difference". He admitted the initial interest "was great" but was even better "because of the manager".

What Paloschi and the club wants are crystal clear, stating that he "know[s] the situation of the club".

The 26-year-old also knows he has been brought in to score goals, something he has "come to do".

Paloschi also said it was "a great opportunity" because the Premier League is somewhere "every player wants to play".

He admitted it was something he had "always wanted to experience" and it was his "dream" to play in the Premier League.

Paloschi concluded, “This is a good opportunity for me now and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
