Sunderland midfielder Yann M’Vila has stated that he wants to stay at the Stadium of Light beyond the end of the current season - granted the club stay up.

Big impact

The midfielder has made a big impact since his summer loan move from Rubin Kazan by former coach Dick Advocaat and has been ever present since then, even with the departure of the Dutchman and the arrival of Sam Allardyce.

But as the Frenchman enters the final three months of his temporary stay, he has stated that he would like to stay in the North East.

It is believed that the midfielder’s representatives are currently in talks with the Russian club to rip up his contract there and to make him a free agent in the summer, with Sunderland then his first-choice destination.

He told the Sunderland Echo that it is “important” that he sorts the contract issue with Kazan, but says that his “objective” was to play in the Premier League.

He continued by saying that he wanted to “stay” at the club and "play in the Premier League with Sunderland.”

Bump in the road

There is a clause in the 25-year-old’s current contract that the loan deal can be made permanent this summer, but with the Black Cats really struggling at the bottom of the table and only paying a fraction of his wages, the deal could fall through.

It looks like M’Vila is a hot property too, with it been reported that several other top-flight clubs are keeping tabs on his current situation at the Stadium of Light.

However, the player is confident that the Black Cats can avoid the drop, which would allow him to stay on Wearside.

He said that he is hopeful that Sunderland will “stay up” so then they can “get around the table and talk” about a new deal and continue his Sunderland “adventure.
