Matt Targett believes that the Saints have got a real chance of getting into the Europa Leage once again, following the win at Swansea which has lifted them to sixth place in the league just one point behind fifth placed Manchester United.

All looking good

The Saints secured a place in the competition last season after finishing seventh, are unbeaten in past six matches and have kept clean sheets in all of the matches and look well placed to once again secure a European place this season heading into the final 12 games of this most unpredictable season.

Mixed season

The youngster gave his thoughts on his sides current position in the table, saying that, "we weren't happy with the start of our season."

The youngster felt there is still something to take from this season, "We lost too many games and what we achieved last season I think we can achieve it again." Talks were heard between squad in the dressing room, "We had a little discussion." Targett explained.

Change of formation helping

The Saints once again kept a clean-sheet their sixth successive one and Targett who once more started in a left-wing back role revealed that the players have feel confidence when playing this formation.

Forster's return vital

This return to form for the side has coincided with the return of stopper Fraser Forster to the side and Targett feels that he has made an important impact to the side since coming back into the team.

Targett feels that his side have got back to basics adding "I think last season we were successful for all the clean sheets we kept,"  he said, "and some games Fraser's done so well for us, like the Arsenal game, making some world-class saves.”

Weekend rest

Following, being knocked out of the FA Cup the Saints will have no fixture next weekend bringing them a break in the schedule and a chance to recharge the batteries ahead of the visit of Chelsea in two weeks’ time.

Targett is welcoming the break ahead of the Chelsea game saying “We're all going to rest up and we know when we get back we're going to have to train hard."
