Manchester United’s new striker Romelu Lukaku revealed how Paul Pogba’s experience convinced him to join the club. The Belgian striker has joined Manchester United for a reported fee of £75million from Everton. Lukaku signed a five-year contract with an additional option of one more year.
Lukaku has been spending his holiday with Pogba in Los Angeles this summer. The forward has admitted that Pogba had a big influence on his decision to join United. Lukaku will join up with the United squad in Los Angeles where they will begin their pre-season tour.
Pogba’s transfer to United triggered me
Pogba rejoined Manchester United from Juventus last summer, making him the most expensive player in the game. The French midfielder spent his teenage days at United. After failing to hold on a position in the first team he moved to Juventus in 2012 for a minimal fee.
While talking to ESPN, Lukaku admitted that “Pogba explained his transfer to [him] and triggered something in [his] head.” The former Chelsea forward further added that he is really excited to work with all the players at United as they are “all top players, a good group of guys that is hungry to win trophies.”
Lukaku is eager to work hard at United
The Belgian international has been one of the prolific strikers in past few seasons. His loan spells at West Brom Albion and Everton were impressive. He joined Everton permanently in 2012 and became one of the best forwards in Premier League.
Lukaku has got his big move to United and he is keen to “work harder than what he is doing now.” The forward further added that “the road is still far, but he is willing to go on that path and grab the opportunity.” Lukaku can be a game-changing signing for United as he is already a prolific goalscorer and still not hit the peak age of his career.
