Jose Mourinho's tenure at Manchester United continues to go from strength to strength, with a convincing 5-2 victory over Turkish side Galatasaray.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a instant impact on his debut opening the scoring early on, but the Red Devils found themselves behind at half-time with goals from Sinan Gumus and Bruma.

United were in the drivers seat in the second period, with a quick brace from skipper Wayne Rooney, and further goals from Marouanne Fellaini and Juan Mata gave them the convincing victory.

What a start

Many waited in anticipation inside the Ullevi Stadium, waiting to see Ibrahimovic's debut in a United shirt, and it only took four minutes for the Swede to make a impact.

Ibrahimovic is not one known for doing things simple, and this proved to be the case on his United debut, Antonio Valencia put a good ball into the box and the Swede rose highest to try the overhead kick, despite it not been the best connection it still managed to bounce into the top corner to give him a perfect start.

Falling behind

Despite that fantastic start, United took a back seat for the rest of the half, and Galatasaray took over and it wasn't long until they found their equaliser. Long-time United target Wesley Sneijder, produced an excellent free-kick which was headed home by Gumus who saw his side level with their first attempt at goal.

Sneijder then tired his own shot at goal as the half went on, as the Dutchman tried one from distance but David De Gea was on hand to tip it over the crossbar. With five minutes to play, the Turkish side took the lead and it was well deserved. Gala produced a some great team play, which ended up at the feet of Bruma, who did brilliantly to curl it beyond De Gea, and into the bottom corner.

Turned the game on it's head

United came flying out of the traps as they came out for the second half in Gothenburg, and it wasn't long until they not only got level, but managed to take the lead in quick succession.

Rooney got his season underway in style, after some good team play from the likes of Valencia and substitute Marcus Rashford, allowed the skipper some space to flick home from the cross. Rooney was then given the opportunity to regain his side's lead, when a turn of pace from Rashford saw him get beyond the Turkish defence, and ended up been brought down by Fernando Muslera. Rooney stood over the set piece and made no mistake as he struck home.

The game looked out of sight as United added a fourth just after the hour mark, it was another excellent example of team play, with Valencia's cross headed back across the face of goal, over Muslera and Fellaini was there to fire home at the far post.

Ending a excellent performance

It is public knowledge that Mata doesn't seem to be player favoured by Mourinho, but the Spaniard went a long way to changing his mind as he added the fifth, and final goal of a excellent performance. The Spaniard started the move with a great turn, with the ball ending up with Michael Carrick who put it back through to Mata, who made no mistake as he struck home.

Mata tried to add his second, and United's sixth, as he looked to dink the keeper but his effort was blocked, but United had done enough to seal a convincing victory.
