Manchester City succumbed to a 1-0 defeat away against Real Madrid during the second-leg of their semi-final clash.

Having held Zinedine Zidane's men to a goalless draw at the Ethiad, in a game that they could've won - or at least scored in - they had it all to do against Los Blancos with the prospect of meeting Atlético Madrid in the Milan final just 90 minutes away.

Citizens didn't deserve loss, says Hart

Joe Hart, one of City's best performers on an otherwise forgettable evening, said the team didn't deserve to lose - especially as the goal they conceded was a "very lucky" one. When questioned by reporters, he was understandably defensive, saying that the team had "given it our all", so even though they didn't prevail, "it was very hard" for them.

"It was difficult but that's a big team and that's how a big team manages a game and we fell victim to that." As well as this, the 28-year-old goalkeeper was reflective and admitted Real "defended well", and showed the fact they're a "seasoned Champions League side" with the quality within their backline.

Mangala already seeking revenge for defeat

Eliaquim Mangala, who replaced the injured Vincent Kompany just ten minutes into proceedings, has spoken about how the team can be "proud" of themselves having reached the semi-finals, regardless of the final result against Real.

He continued, saying that they were defeated by a "good team", who have "experience of semi-finals". Despite this though, "you always want more" having got so far, meaning that City will "certainly try" to avenge their frustrating loss this time next term.

"Unfortunately we didn't score the goal that would have brought us to Milan."

Pellegrini frustrated by lack of creative touch

Manuel Pellegrini has said that Real are "lucky" to be in the Champions League final after a slender home victory yesterday.

When questioned, the manager admitted he was "not happy with the way we [the team] created [chances]." As a result, he also felt the same way as Hart - that they "didn't deserve to lose", and the deflected strike gave them the much-needed breathing space at a tense moment of the match itself.

"None of the teams deserved to win and it [the game itself] should have gone to penalties. We didn't see Real Madrid better than us, we were not creative enough to [cause] damage."
