Emre Can and Divock Origi are in doubt of featuring in Liverpool's Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday.

The Reds travel to White Hart Lane looking to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Burnley, but could be without the pair - both of whom were forced off with knocks in their EFL Cup second round win at Burton Albion on Tuesday night.

Jürgen Klopp's men eased to a 5-0 victory at the Pirelli Stadium, but Origi was forced off with cramp after Can had been forced off with ankle issue.

The manager said afterwards that Can's injury was "not too serious", but the midfielder is facing a race against time to be able to feature against Spurs.

Reds boss admits Origi and Can unlikely to take part

Klopp told his pre-match press conference that he has "a few players" that are "a bit of a doubt" but allayed fears by saying that their problems are "not too serious."

He said that they "need to wait a little bit" to make a decision, adding: "With Emre, there is nothing really serious in the ankle, but it is his ankle where he had a few problems in the past."

He insisted that the German's lay-off would "not be long" but admitted that their journey down to the capital might "come too soon" for him, before saying that it's "the same with Divock."

The Reds boss insisted that the striker's injury is "not serious" but acknowledged that there are "different levels of cramp" and hinted that the Belgian might not be fit to play against Mauricio Pochettino's side.

He insisted that "whatever [level] the cramp is", it must be looked at - Klopp telling reporters: "I'm not sure that he will be available."

Not the time of the season to rest players, says Klopp

It would be a disappointing setback to be without either, particularly given the impact the duo made at Burton - Can adding much-needed composure and control to the midfield and Origi getting on the scoresheet and providing a lively contribution up top.

The two made up a near full-strength side which swept Burton aside with ease, with Klopp saying that it's "not about rest" when asked to explain his line-up.

He said that his players "recover in hours" and that, although if they "have 50 games" in their legs then it is "different", it is "not the moment for this."

Klopp said that they had "fresh, high-quality players on the bench" but declared his team selection was "not about our opponent" but rather about the team's "rhythm."

"The most important stage in the early part of the season is to get rhythm," he continued. "We needed to use every minute."
