Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has spoken candidly about a possible transfer away from the club this summer, revealing that it's all down to how much playing time he can be guaranteed next season.

The Welshman has been linked with a move away from L4 for months now, having failed to nail down a regular place in manager Jürgen Klopp's starting 11.

Former club Swansea City, who Brendan Rodgers paid £15million to for his services in 2012, have been touted with a possible move for him, although there's been no official bid from the Swans yet.

Future hinges on pre-season planss

Whilst he's now away with Wales, readying himself for the upcoming European Championship, Allen's future is of course still on his mind.

Speaking about what's going to happen after the Championship's conclude, Allen revealed that it "hinges on the pre-season plans and what exactly the club are hoping to do", possibly referring to any potential midfield signings that Klopp could make.

This seems entirely possible, with Piotr Zielinski of Serie A side Empoli heavily linked in recent weeks, the Pole recently stating that there's a little more to his future than just rumours.

Allen continued, saying that it is about "the acquisitions and who they are going to get in" and that naturally "you want to play every minute of every game", something that he's found difficult in the past year.

Allen's struggled for first team football this term

Despite often playing well when called upon, Allen doesn't seem to have done enough to convince Klopp that he's at least the third choice centre-midfielder, as James Milner stepped in alongside Emre Can when Jordan Henderson picked up an injury.

"When you don't [play] it can be disappointing", stated Allen, who went on to say that it's about "how you react" to not playing, in order to be in top shape when called upon. He spoke of how doing that "has been a challenge", but one that he's enjoyed.
