Two goals from Philippe Coutinho handed Jürgen Klopp his first Premier League win as Liverpool they condemned Chelsea to a second successive league defeat with a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took the lead early on as Ramires headed them in front, but Coutinho hit back controversially - scoring from outside the box three minutes into first-half stoppage time as Jose Mourinho's clamoured for the whistle.

Coutinho added his second with 15 minutes remaining, as his composed strike deflected off Chelsea skipper John Terry to beat Asmir Begovic and hand the Merseyside outfit the advantage.

And the Reds added gloss to an excellent afternoon as Christian Benteke added a third off of the bench to hand Klopp's side a massive three points and pile the pressure on Mourinho.

Reds fall behind early as Chelsea start strong

Klopp named a side without a recognised striker, with Christian Benteke on the bench. Roberto Firmino played the role of the furthest forward attacker, with Coutinho and Adam Lallana either side.

Mourinho omitted Cesc Fabregas from the starting eleven for the first time this season, taking his place alongside his midfield partner of last term Nemanja Matic, on the bench. Diego Costa played despite a damaged rib, with Ramires and Mikel in central midfield.

The Blues got off to the perfect start after a Cesar Azpilicueta cross from the right took a slight deflection off Martin Skrtel and found the head of Ramires to arrow a header past Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.

Despite conceding, it was the visitors who dominated possession. Adam Lallana was finding pockets of space to operate in and caused the Chelsea defence problems, but their absence of an out-and-out striker was proved to be an issue. It looked as though Chelsea had ridden the possession storm of the first half and would hold out for half time.

Coutinho equalises on stroke of half-time as away side dominate

However late in stoppage time, the home side stood off of Roberto Firmino and the Brazilian found his compatriot Philippe Coutinho, who jinked past John Terry, and curled a left-footed shot past Asmir Begovic and into the bottom corner as Klopp celebrated jubilantly on the touchline.

The second half began without much to speak of, the biggest talking point being the substitution of Eden Hazard for Kenedy on the left. Then, just after the hour mark, similarly to their draw with Southampton last weekend, Benteke was introduced - replacing the disappointing James Milner.

Coutinho puts Liverpool ahead with another stunning strike

His impact was felt soon after. With fifteen minutes to go it was Benteke who latched onto a ball over the top. His nod down found Coutinho once again whose shot on the turn, was deflected off John Terry and past Begovic. In truth it was a scoreline that reflected Liverpool's relative dominace.

Jordon Ibe nearly added a third with ten minutes to go,  before it was Benteke who scored his fourth goal for Liverpool with a slide-rule finish - again deflected, this time off Gary Cahill - to make it 3-1.

Liverpool played out time to a rapidly emptying Stamford Bridge and passed the ball with the swagger oft associated with Jurgen Klopp, dominating large periods.

The win sees The Reds climb to seventh, whilst Chelsea stay languishing in fifteenth after a dreadful run of form.
