After losing out on Xherdan Shaqiri and Dimitri Payet, Roberto Martinez has turned his attention to Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko.

Yarmolenko can play anywhere along the front line and his versatility coupled with his playmaking ability may make Martinez shell out the large part of his transfer budget.

The Ukraine international has 12 months remaining on his current contract at Dyanmo Kiev and could be available for as little as £14Million pounds.

Yarmolenko troubled Everton in Europe

The winger was part of the Dyanmo Kiev team that dumped the Toffees out of the Europa League last season and stole the show himself with a stunning goal from 25 yards out in the second leg of the knockout tie.

He caused Everton a lot of trouble at Goodison Park too, keeping the full backs pinned back in their own half because of his pace and trickery. Switching behind the flanks and running at goal kept Everton on the back foot all night.

Other Premier League teams are interested

Reports surfaced earlier in the summer than Yarmolenko had talks with Tottenham Hotspur but no deal ever came about. Stoke City and Liverpool are also reportedly interested.

Dyanmo Kiev’s owner Igor Surkis has been adamant in the past that he would not sell Yarmolenko but has recently changed his mind and could be ready to sell to a ‘top European club’.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is also adamant that his squad will be “stronger” once the window comes to a close. He has also said he is looking at signing at least another three players this summer.

The Blues also signed young defender Mason Holgate from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. The deal for Holgate takes Everton up to four players signed this summer behind Tom Cleverley, Gerard Deulofeu and David Henen
