Sheffield FC have completed the signing of Emma Lipman from Manchester City Women.

Lipman is one of four players to arrive in South Yorkshire in the last couple of days as the club bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Sheffield won promotion to FAWSL 2 last summer, beating Portsmouth 1-0 in their FA Women's Premier League play-off, and are raring to go after so long without playing. With the movements they are making in the transfer window, they are prepared to make an impact on the second tier too.

Lipman brings experience

The most high profile business the club have done this week sees Lipman arrive from Manchester City.

After being heavily involved in the Citizens' 2014 exploits, she fell down the pecking order in 2015 and was only able to make three appearances in WSL 1 - just one of them being a start. She did feature a further three times in the FA WSL Cup, but has opted for a switch elsewhere ahead of the new campaign in order to gain more playing time.

A runner-up in the WSL in 2015, and in the cup in 2014, the 26-year-old defender brings a wealth of experience to a team that are experiencing the Super League for the first time.

Flood of recruits

Lipman's arrival was the third of four in the last two days for Sheffield, with the club very busy ahead of the new season.

Midfielder Sherry McCue started the ball rolling, the 21-year-old midfielder joining on Thursday from Aston Villa, bringing with her a ton of experience from youth level with England.

Goalkeeper Jules Draycott then followed from Notts County, whilst England under-17 international Hannah Cain completed the week's dealings as she put pen to paper with the club.

Sheffield return to action tomorrow in the FA Cup, facing Leicester City Women in the third round, whilst their first ever WSL fixture sees them host Durham on Wednesday 23 March.
