Alex Kirk - on loan from Arsenal - was introduced as a second-half substitute for Bromley as they secured promotion to League Two.

The defender, who graced the hallowed Wembley turf in the 65th minute, completely changed the course of the game. He breathed new life into the Bromley side and was a constant threat.

Typically a centre-half, Woodman played Kirk at full-back, and it proved a masterstroke. On any other day, Kirk may have left North London with a hat-trick and as Bromley's hero.

The 21-year-old would have thought he had won it for Bromley when he struck the inside of the post with just minutes left to play in the second period of extra time.

Nonetheless, he reinvigorated the Bromley side with a real energy that kept them kicking on. Ravens boss Andy Woodman shared how Kirk aided in the South London club's victory.

“Alex is a boy I’ve known since he was at Arsenal. He’s a centre-half, but we put him in at wingback, which we’ve done a couple of times. You know, he’s a fit boy. He was great; he gave us that bit of energy down that side at the end.”

The defender has made 22 appearances for Bromley this season, massively impressing in South London.

He is on the books of Premier League leaders Arsenal and was named on the bench in the Gunners Premier League victory over West Ham in 2022.

Kirk has been at Arsenal since the age of eight and has also spent time on loan at Scottish Championship outfit Ayr United.

The 22 game spell at Hayes Lane was the defender’s first taste of senior football in England. When quizzed on whether or not he'd like to bring the defender back to Hayes Lane next season, Woodman replied, "Yeah."

“There will be a lot of discussions to be had between now and next week, so we will get on that next week.”

But before any discussions or plans about what the future has in store for Woodman and his side, the Bromley boss is going to "have a nice cold beer with the family and relax."
